I have been watching soloist Jake Roxander for three years now and have continued to be enthralled by his performances. Though young, there was no doubt that he’s a generational talent and it didn’t take long for the rest of the world/NYC to catch on. Last night, at his first–ever leading role (in Don Quixote) he gave yet another stunning performance alongside the beautiful Skylar Brandt. At the curtain call, the packed house of 3.900 people was already going crazy with their applause and deafening adoration, but that was nothing compared to the reaction to Artistic Director Susan Jaffe’s onstage announcement that Mr. Roxander was being promoted to Principle Dancer, ABT’s highest ranking! Bravo, dear Jake… it is well-deserved.
